All scanned images are enhanced by our graphic arts specialists to deliver the highest quality digitized images from your photo prints, slides or negatives. These enhancements include image rotation, cropping, red-eye removal, and color and contrast correction.

For color negatives and slides, dust, scratches and other small blemishes are also digitally removed with Kodak's Digital ICE technology along with Nikon's professional scanning technology

Image enhancements are free of charge. If you want to receive keep the raw images (without enhancements), you may opt- out from this service in your online Order Form. Upon request, we can also apply Film Grain & Noise reduction with Digital GEM technology.

Cropping and Color Correction

BritePix specialists routinely fix color problems on photos that look dull and flat, adding also light and contrast where needed. Black or white edges left by the scanning hardware are removed, paying special attention around the corners.

Red-Eye Removal The red-eye effect occurs when light from the camera flash reflects off the blood vessels at the back of the subject´s eyes. It can be eliminated through a simple digital-imaging technique.

Dust and Scratch Removal with Digital ICE Digital ICE technology, developed by Kodak, isolates scratches and dirt on the surface of the film. It then fills in the missing information using surrounding RGB information. This service is not applicable on black & white film.

Grain and Noise Reduction with Digital GEM Digital GEM technology, developed by Kodak, automatically reduces film grain noise on digital images. Grain noise may be caused by a variety of factors such as high-speed film grain, adverse lighting conditions, scanner/digital camera CCD noise, or image enlargement. Digital GEM isolates noise/grain in both highlight and shadow areas without sacrificing image detail.
